Good morning, friends! I think I say this every week when I write my SOC posts on Saturday, but I find it amazing that my boys wake up at the crack of down practically every single day. This morning they were up right at 6:00 am. Their zest to get up and see what adventures the new day brings is so inspiring. I can’t be the old grump who bemoans them for it. So even though I really, really would love to sleep in on a Saturday, I get up with them and look into their refreshed bright eyes wishing childhood energy and anticipation would endure forever.
Today we are painting part of our living room. We decided over Christmas break that our house needs a bit of a face lift. We don’t have the budget to do major renovations, so we’ve decided to make a few small changes in each room. I bought some canvas prints for the living room and switched out dated pictures with more artsy, black and white pictures we recently had made. We are painting a few walls so the room has some contrast. We are also going to attempt to paint the fan blades. Our ceiling is white and the fan blades are white, and it looks very drab. We are painting the blades the same color as the new wall. We’ll see. I found a fan I like at Lowe’s yesterday for $70, but I really don’t want to spend the money. I would much rather just paint the blades.
If you have any advice about basic home renovations, let me know. Also, is there somewhere online I can find Lowe’s or Home Depot coupons? I am going to look here in a sec.
I’m obsessed with my Bullet Journal. It’s become such a part of my life that I carry it everywhere. I cannot even begin to explain how nice it is to have all of my schedules, calendars, notes, etc. in one place instead of a million different ones. And now I can finally see my desk because it’s not covered in post-it notes.
How is 2016 treating you so far? I’m feeling really good about it. The last two weeks have been insanely busy with all of my jobs and several committees. I’m on the planning team for two different races that are coming up, one in March and one in April. I’ve ran numerous races but have never been on the back end of one. I never realized how much planning, time, collaboration and effort goes into making a race happen, but so far, it’s been super fun and interesting. I look forward to seeing all of our hard work manifest.
I hope you and your family enjoy your Saturday. There’s something special about Saturdays. It’s not the last day of the work week and it’s not the day before work begins again. It’s just a fun day in the middle where we can be productive and enjoy our time as a family.
And we have a holiday on Monday and our school system has a teacher workday on Tuesday, so four-day weekend, here I come!
