Breakfast is always a hectic time at our house, and the boys get so sick of eating the same thing day in and day out. Bagels and cream cheese, toast, cheese grits, smoothie, blah, blah, blah. And whenever I mention cereal, they look at me with eyes that say, “BORING.”
So when I found out General Mills was offering a new line of Super Hero cereals, including Superman™ Caramel Crunch and Batman™ Chocolate Strawberry, I was very excited. Not only are these new products fun for the kiddos but they are healthy to eat. You can’t beat that!
I love that super heroes never go out of style. There’s something eternal about good conquering evil. And even though there have been hundreds of super heroes throughout the years, I don’t think any have stood the test of time like Batman and Superman.
As a little girl, I loved watching these two fight the bad guys. The 1980s and 1990s were the height of the Batman and Superman motion pictures. My sister and I loved them all, so it’s hard for me to say if I’m on Batman’s team or Superman’s team.
Hmmmm… In typical Zealous Mom fashion, I have a complicated answer.
When I was young, I really liked Batman. He was dark and mysterious. He had so many cool gadgets and a great car. I also liked the other characters in his story. I liked Penguin, The Joker, the Riddler and Catwoman.
But as an adult, I think I like Superman better. If I really think about it, Batman was kind of a recluse, all hidden down in his dreary cave. Superman seems bright and optimistic, something we adults need. Now that I’m a writer, I also love that Superman’s alter ego, Clark Kent, is a journalist and photographer. Despite his meager salary, I still find that more attractive than Bruce Wayne’s CEO status.
Nevertheless, if I was in a state of distress I would welcome assistance from either of them.
A new movie is coming out on March 25, 2016 called Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I’m really excited about it. It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen a super hero movie. When you buy a box of Superman Caramel Crunch and Batman Chocolate Strawberry, you can read all about it on the box.
I have two boys and while my seven-year old son likes super heroes well enough, he’s never been obsessed like my littlest boy. Our four-year old LOVES everything about super heroes. The costumes, the masks, the superpowers, the story, the everything. So he was thrilled to try these new cereals. And you can try them as well with this $1 off coupon.
I always appreciate when a brand tries to make a product exciting for kids. Furthermore, Superman Caramel Crunch and Batman Chocolate Strawberry are nutritional as evidenced by the following facts:
- No colors from artificial sources
- No artificial flavors

- Only 9 grams of sugar per serving
- A good source of Calcium and Vitamin D
- 12g of whole grain per serving
We did a little taste test at our house, and both boys liked Superman Caramel Crunch, but my favorite was Batman Chocolate Strawberry. We tried it dry and with milk. Both kinds taste delicious both ways. I ate mine with almond milk which was also very tasty.
