Happy Father’s Day! I really like this day. Not every father on this planet is a great dad, but the two in my life (my dad and my husband) are pretty dang amazing, so I always look forward to a day solely devoted to celebrating them. Right now, my husband is either still sleeping or watching Sports Center in the bedroom. He would be happy doing either, so he’s starting out his day right! I got up early to finish writing his card and thought I would write a quick blog post. Both little boys are still sleeping soundly, but pretty soon, the house will be filled with running feet and little voices saying, “Happy Father’s Day, Daddy!” So cute.
We’re heading to church here in a bit. I love our church. Our pastors are both amazing writers and speakers. They consistently challenge my faith and inspire me. I look forward to their Father’s Day message today.
I asked my husband what he wanted to do today, and he said go bike riding at Biltmore then eat out somewhere in nearby Asheville. Sounds like a fun day to me!
My sister can have her baby any minute now. I’m flying up to DC on Tuesday evening to meet the baby and spend time with her, brother-in-law and new niece for five days. I’m very sad about leaving my boys, but so very excited about this special time I will have my amazing sister and our sweet little niece. Whenever I do something really fun without the boys, I am excited on one hand but feel guilty on the other. I’m sure if you’re a parent you completely understand.
My time is up. Those 5-7 minutes of stream of consciousness writing always go so quickly. I hope you have a wonderful Father’s Day with the men in your life. If you’ve lost a father recently, I am so sorry. I hope the day is not too hard for you. This day can be bitter-sweet for many.
Enjoy your day, and I’ll be in touch about the baby! Anytime now…
