This is going to the be the quickest stream of consciousness post ever. I just heard Brooks wake up. He’s still in his room but I can hear him playing. I want to go spend some time with him. Lately, it seems like he’s grown up right in front of my eyes. I realized that he and I haven’t had much alone time lately. I know all parents feel that way and it’s part of mom guilt, but he’s just so self-sufficient and my little one is so talkative and attached to me right now that I feel like I haven’t spent much quality time with the big boy. He and I need a date soon.
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed my Color Run pictures from yesterday. I had heard about this run for a long time, but we are usually at the beach right now so we’ve always missed it. I was determined to do it this year. It was an absolute blast. It’s seriously something you have to experience yourself before you can truly know what a unique event it is. I broadcasted some Periscope videos during the after party, and the comments were hilarious. It was only 9:00 in the morning and hundreds of people were already covered head to toe in color and glitter dancing their hearts out to blasting DJ music in downtown Asheville. Every so often, clouds of color would burst into the air. My Periscope followers were like, “What is going on there?” “That looks like such a cool run!” “It’s way too early for people to be that happy.” And so on, and so forth.
We’re finally leaving for the beach soon! Our summer beach trip is usually earlier, but since my sister had her sweet baby girl in June, we pushed our trip to later in the summer. I’m such a beach person and so is my husband. My family had a little place in Ocean Lakes campground in South Myrtle when I was growing up, so we spend weeks upon weeks there during my childhood summers. My husband went to University of North Carolina at Wilmington, so some his formative years were spent near the sand and sea as well. And of course, the little boys just love the beach. I can’t wait to relax and spend time with the family. I especially can’t wait to cuddle my tiny, little niece. Needless to say, we’re all super excited!
It feels like Back-to-School season has already arrived. EEEEK! That is crazy. We went ahead and bought our little boy his supplies for first grade. We were at Target yesterday, and the BTS section was remotely uncrowded, and I just wanted to get it done.
I’m signing off to go play. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!

We had to leave the Color Run early (so crowded at the finish!) It was fun, but I still have glitter in my hair. 🙂
