Before last February, I had only ran one 5K in my life and it was more of a Fun Run than an actual race. My first real race was last year’s Frostbite 5K/10K. Last weekend I ran it for the second time, and after a year of running and entering races, I finally sort of feel like a runner. I’ve really stepped up my workouts over the last year and feel so much happier and healthier because of it. It’s a life for which I’m extremely thankful.
It was freezing last weekend when we ran the 2015 Frostbite race with a temperature of 25 and a wind chill of much lower. My friend and I were prepared, though. We bundled up significantly and were actually too hot while running. After the race, I compiled some tips for those of you that find yourself in a frigid race. It’s obviously helpful to be prepared, mentally and physically, beforehand. I’m in better shape than last year, but all of the clothing was very constricting and so my time wasn’t what I hoped. We ultimately had a lot of fun and were very proud of ourselves.
