When I was growing up, my family traveled to South Carolina beaches for our summer beach trips. Once Todd and I had our own children, we began going to the Outer Banks, a part of my own state that I had never seen. A friend of my sister’s rented her family’s beach house to us at a great rate, and we just couldn’t resist.
We’ve always stayed in Corolla, on the northern tip of the Outer Banks, but you really can’t go wrong when choosing which area or town to visit. Not only do the shores provide a stunning backdrop for family pictures, kite flying, or merely a romantic walk, but the Outer Banks also provides educational experiences such as Kitty Hawk, where the Wright Brothers National Memorial is located and the tour of lighthouses.
For the past four summers, we’ve made amazing memories on the Outer Banks, but my sister’s friend decided to sell the beach house, so this year, for the first time in a long time, we’ll be traveling back to South Carolina for our summer trip.
